RSS

Could newsfeeds be linked to the resources databases? People coming in for current events could find what they need fast. It would be fast feed(food)
for the latest societal demands of the #4 supersized to go and quick. What about the PBCLS homepage? Can we make it the only stop they need complete with news, weather, information, and book availability? Let's compete with Google for the average person's homepage!!!

Flickr

I'm a little frustrated again and this time it's no dream! It's Flickr.......
I definitely see the benefits. It seems safer than the old photo sharing sites, but is it any different? Over the years, I've gotten e-mails to go to those places for baby pics and not surprisingly, I was never able to access (no compatibility, slow connection, bad computer, etc.)
All the things Flickr has to offer are overwhelming. Again, great for people who love to create online albums. I'm still trying to upload pics onto XP (will accept help ).

Library blogging

This blogging thing is more fun than I thought it would be. I think this will be great among PBCLS colleagues. Since we are so spread out, it is virtually impossible to collaborate and network with each other. The blogs can act much like listservs for pertinent issues and questions.

Lifelong Learning

Are we all still dreaming about school? I'm talking about the overnight, wake up in a cold sweat actual dream about being * years younger and back in school. Whether it's being late for class, unprepared for a test, or being lost, we are always reduced to that fear (and relief upon waking) even at * years old. Okay Dr. Freud, what does this mean? Is it a true fear of something else? Because learning isn't scary or is it? After learning about the 7 and a Half Highly Effective Habits of Lifelong Learning, I learned a few things about me. According to Habit #3 we should view all problems in life as challenges to learn from, not as crises. When a major life crisis comes, I tend to look back afterwards to find something I've learned or gained. During the problem, however, I just want to get through it. My current problem to get through deals with habit #6- technology. I think it's great once I've figured out how to use it, but as soon as this has happened, it changes. I've just mastered my DVD player, only to learn it too will be obsolete. I love the PC, but again, it keeps changing. I'm trying to figure out the difference between DSL and cable, which by the way are too expensive. Well, at least I can say I'm a Blogger now.
